DOE NEUP award enables the in-situ Hysitron nanoindenter with heating and nanoDynamic mode at UCB

April 21, 2017 | Peter Hosemann, PhD

This week Hysitron installed the new in-situ PI88 with heating (<800C), nanoDynamic mode, and two load ranges (max 500mN) at UCB’s nuclear materials group. We are excited to be able to test materials at reactor operation temperature on the nano scale (indentation, bending, compression and tension). This tool will also be available for NSUF users. We thank DOE NEUP for the infrastructure award enabling this new nation wide capability and Hysitron for providing the tool.
